I think this discussion is polarised. I agree that many of the yellow warnings turn out to

be simply what we would have called s**t weather 20 years ago, and that feels like a hangover from 87 in case a freak accident happens and they get blamed.

However, criticising the issue of amber and red warnings is just childish. Not only are they warning of potential danger, but also trying to avoid overloading the emergency services which the Tories have cut below the bare minimum for the average day anyway.

Sometimes I also think people forget that we get more warnings now than in the 80s and 90s because weather prediction has become so much more accurate with the available technology and it is far simpler to communicate warnings.

Note - weather predictions will never be entirely accurate. At least not in our lifetimes. Far too complex.
