...the one thing we can take from the past however many years of Tory rule is that they do not have a consistent position on whether they are low or high tax, low or high public spend, economically literate or illiterate... they will just do what they think will win them votes.

As will Labour.

Which I suppose is looping back to there being very little difference between them, other than one party is generally motivated by wanting to appeal to the section of the electorate that needs more help than the section the other party appeals to.

As the squeezed middle, I don't mind (as much) having my pips squeezed when it's the poor that are sort of benefiting than when it's the already rich (who will be fine regardless of governing party)
