But it does seem the best bet now. We can't weaken the bowling cos the pace attack are so fragile (and Stokes isn't gonna cover).

Moeen's got the skills to be a number 3 and Root/Brook are undoubtedly better playing in their preferred slots (whatever the rights or wrongs of that).

And bluntly, it doesn't matter for Moeen (from a personal angle) if he fails there, as this is definitely a stopgap call up, so it matters less if its used as a stick by his critics. Shame for Lawrence tho, who I do rate.

And he now Moeen plays for Warwickshire. So, pfft.
