No. Its a twenty year period and during that period we were

similar sized clubs, playing at the same level most of the time and in fact we used to beat them much more often than we'd lose.

Since the mid 90s, one has left the other behind and grown a lot more than the other.

My point is not that we are a bigger club than West Ham. My point is that at that point in history (and not just for one season or a couple of seasons but for 20 years) there was nothing between the two clubs on or off the pitch and the fact that there is a gulf now, is not down to "inevitability" or reversion to the mean, its down to how the two clubs have been run since.
