doesn't inspire much confidence, tho all are capable batsmen when they click. (I think Lawrence has most potential, out of the three, tho not sure which one is most likely, really, to kick on)

In view of the batting strength above I can see why Bairstow over Foakes, but it really does highlight just how much we've tinkered with things over the post Cook years trying to paper over the batting problems by mussing around with everyone else.

And, such a shame, but I just can't see Archer ever coming back, which is another legacy of Root's captaincy in my eyes.

Still, time for new heroes etc etc
