Join us for Dean Smith's first press conference as NCFC head coach

SW: A soon as Dean became available and as soon as it became apparent that he wanted to get back into football, it became a very easy decision to make.

DS: We are in the Premier League and our aim is to stay in the Premier League and if we can do that then there have already been great building blocks put in place by Stuart and Daniel.

DS: I have worked in many models and having met with Stuart and Neil I feel those relationships have been really good.

DS: I feel that the squad we have got here is good enough to stay in this league. I am here to try and win football games and the first one is on Saturday, and we will try and get as many we can.

DS: We will try give them a hard-working football team that they can be proud of.

SW: (On DF) It was a tough decision. I spoke to him more than anyone in my life during our time together. We couldn’t hide our Premier League record, but we’re excited at what comes next.

DS: News from Villa on the Sunday. Spoke to my agent and Stuart on Tuesday and then flew to New York.

SW: (On Cantwell) He needs to get himself fit and keep himself fit and then impress Dean to get in the team.

DS: (On backroom team) We want to work with the staff that are here. The club has had successful periods in recent years.

DS: There’s been shoots of good signs. It’s a good squad that’s been underperforming. We need to get the best out of them.

DS: Norwich is a well run football club with passionate supporters. They played exciting football, so from the outside I’ve always been impressed.

DS: Craig is on board. He has experienced a lot in the Premier League. He was fully behind the decision.

SW: (On sacking DF) It’s like breaking up with a girlfriend there’s never a good time. It gave Daniel a chance to say goodbye to the players before the international break.
