Both Worthington and Hughton picked up the odd win…
…I seem to remember Worthington’s away record as being abysmal for ages but the wins he got at home meant the large percentage of visible supporters didn’t get on his back for a long, long time.
Hughton was undone in a similar manner, got through *so many* must-win games (often by the odd goal in a dreadful game) but the final straw was that 0-1 loss to West Brom that led to the ‘all in’ gamble on a fresh start against Fulham (a) the following week…
If you’re not winning games, particularly at home, it’s hard to see it being allowed to continue.
As an aside, it was the Charlton (h) FA Cup third round replay that did for Roeder - an attendance of only 13,997 showed the board that we really had had enough and they were at real risk of losing season ticket holders the next season.
