Sense of foreboding

I have only really felt this way once before, in the days after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, resulting in Fukushima meltdown.

At that time, it was also a silent enemy, the radiation, and it was unclear for a long time if, and when, we might be affected.

The comms plan then was horrendous compared with the relative transparency we are getting from the government currently so personally I really appreciate these daily briefings.

At least then, a clear event had happened and you could rationalise it. For corona though, just sat at home, it feels like I am observing it all through TV and not seeing any clear effects. No broken buildings, no fires. The supermarkets are bare, as they were then. Same pattern. Same fears.

Work carries on for me as I can work from home. I admire those who plough on with work, seemingly as if nothing has happened. I just can't focus and from tomorrow I'll have both kids at home too.

Fukushima was something that many could run away from. This, we can't really. Soon it'll be time to wait it all out. It's gonna get a bit weird...stay safe wrathers...i am mightily glad we have information at our fingertips...
