but the mutations often tend to be less harmful, although obviously in many cases they can be worse, as in this case.
Think of it this way, how does it serve the virus to kill its host?
Ideally a virus will live symbiotically with its host and manage to replicate itself to be passed on to others rather than killing itself off with its host. Or at least that's what I remember from university.
Yes, unlike most of the bulls**t artists banging on about herd immunity as if it's going to save us all, I do actually have some relevant education in this case, albeit over 20 years ago
