FAO: CWC re boots

My tuppence would be to remember that at that age, boots are going to last months, not years, as they will grow out of them very quickly, so going for fancy ones each time will break the bank.

My little'un made his way around SportsDirect and tried on all the ones he 'liked' but many of the modern brands are very narrow, especially those sock-type boots.

There have been times when he has chosen to avoid the brand and go for the comfiest ones. At other times he has gone for last season's sock ones and we have taken a pair of scissors to them after 5 minutes to get them on and off.

The quickest way to save money is to avoid this season's boots; many M&M and Sports Direct boots fall into this category anyway.

And remember, they all look the same when caked in mud so, at this time of year, I'd opt to save cash - promise him a fancy pair if he shows commitment to the hobby and/or scores a hattrick.

I've only splashed out properly once and got the Adi-mi personalised boots with his name on and even that only cost £7 on top of a heavily discounted pair but won me loads of Dad points...
