I love the fact that there are people posting here to say "it makes not one blind bit of difference to me, so go and be happy, why are you even raising it?". But the sad reality is that it will still feel like a big deal to him, because a significant minority of people do not feel that way, and coming out WILL change how he is treated.

One day I hope EVERYONE will not give one solitary s**t one or the other, and then indeed there will be no need for us to make a song and dance anymore. But we're not there yet.
