After a wonky tour of nz and a ropey first test here (poor call, illness, tactics a bit awry) they look like they're starting to build something special.

Nice to see options in the fast bowling and for the openers.

Time will tell if this SA are as weak as they look, after all, you can only beat what's in front of you. There's still questions about our spinners (which will get answered in SL) and wicketkeeper. Stick with Denly at 3 or shunt Crawley there when burns is back? Use jennings as a specialist opener?

I think the biggest positive is that hopefully we'll have a good range of options and competition for the coming year. I think, with the different conditions, formats and sheer workload international cricket is more of a squad game than ever before. Some promising signs for us in that case!
