Turn of phrase, I don't mean we could have won the games easily but

with just a little bit more luck or a little less wastefulness we could have won several more games and the opposition would not have been able to say the results were unfair or did not reflect the balance of play.

Wolves (h) and Villa (a) are prime examples. Two games we got nothing from but neutrals would probably say we could have should have had wrapped up well before the opposition scored their winning goals.

Spurs (h) we should have been 2 up. Last night we deserved at least a point. Watford (h) we had plenty of chances. Saints (a) should have got a draw in the end.

Sure there are more. I don't think we've won any points we didn't deserve on the balance of play but we've certainly missed out on points we did deserve. Obviously you don't always get what you deserve and I accept also that if you miss chances and then concede stupid goals you only have yourself to blame but it doesn't make it less frustrating.

Another factor I think gets ignored is that many of the teams down in the bottom half also have goalkeepers who occasionally produce match winning performances for their team that sees them win games they don't deserve to win. The Newcastle keeper has single handedly kept them in a number of games this season. Foster has done similar for Watford. Heaton did it for Villa against us. Pope kept Leicester out last weekend before they nicked a winner. Henderson regularly keeps Shef U in games. Krul has been decent this season and this is not me having a go at him. He may be the best we can afford. He's cut out the errors and has been the least of our problems but he doesn't save many that you would not expect him.
