sorry to hear that meggers
it's a huge scandal but it's worth noting that research is conflicting re causation of disease from C8 (perfluorooctanoic acid or PFOA) and C8 use was widespread particularly in Teflon which was used not just in non-stick pans but also hundreds of products, including Gore-Tex and other waterproof clothing; coatings for eye glasses and tennis rackets; stain-proof coatings for carpets and furniture; fire-fighting foam; fast food wrappers; microwave popcorn bags; bicycle lubricants; satellite components; ski wax; communications cables; and pizza boxes.
In 2014 Dupont were reaping more than $95 million in sales a day so they may well have a few bob put by to employ some hefty legal clout that will defer any large payouts until the guilty have long since croaked.
One thing worth noting is PFOA does naturally leave the body via the kidneys in urine. PFOA blood levels largely reflect total exposure over many years. However, PFOA levels decline in blood naturally by about half every 2-4 years, assuming there is no additional exposure. This is known as a half-life. The best intervention to reduce PFOA levels is to stop the exposure. International, U.S., and state public health agencies do not recommend any medical treatment to speed up the process of removing PFOA from the body. Good luck to you and Mrs M.
