Just re-watched the first half again. Made me feel a bit more positive

Plenty of good stuff there and that with Buendia clearly off the pace and Pukki not at his sharpest. Godfrey immense and Cantwell must be in Farke's thoughts for Anfield unless Emi improves considerably on Saturday. Having said all that I do think they were starting to get at our defence a bit too easily in the 10 minutes leading up to the goal.

One very noticeable thing though watching it again is that without Stiepermann the front 6 is very small and this means that whenever a team presses us high when the keeper has the ball and takes the short pass to the full backs out of the equation leaves us faced with playing a risky pass into Trybull or AN Other about 35 yards out or playing a long ball upfield which we never won. A lot of the times we looked a little open flowed from those sort of situations where Fahrmann or a defender tried a sort of chip into midfield and we lost the first ball. A few teams did this to us last season. I would expect a lot will do it to us this season. Need to get our strategy right to deal with this which may just involve the keeper having to play it long a bit more often and concentrating on winning the second ball.
