I got a brochure through from Sports Shoes dot com the other day, and they had

Higherstate trail shoes, incredibly cheap. I've no idea if they're any good.

The best are Inov8, bit pricey. Best budget is probably More Miles (if you ask me they're fugly, but wevs, get them nice and muddy and that won't matter).
