Agree.

We could never had him in his pomp, though we still let him go before he got much of a chance to prove himself.

He did, as you say, a job and did it well which proved, not that it was needed, what a professional he had always been.

But they were dark days.

There's nothing wrong with bringing in a slightly older and more 'streetwise' player to either steady the ship or, as may be the case with us, be the proverbial wise old head to the younger players-David Williams was an inspired signing.
