Denis Rixson. It's a general history of said isles. hasn't much in it about Kinloch. The ones I read are Noel Bank's "Six Inner Hebrides" and Magnus Magnusson's "Rum: Nature's Island" Most of the info was from a very good book from the actual castle when we visited but, annoyingly, I seem to have lent that to some one.
This is an interesting one, though only seen snippets of a friends. Must get it: Eccentric Wealth, by Alastair Scott
Have you been to Mount Stuart on Bute? It's high on my visit list
