...the issue is context as braids and dreadlocks are identifiable as a part of black culture and history. I may not know you well Jumbles but when I met you you were definitely white and therefore probably haven't had the same struggles in your family's life and past in terms of slavery, racism etc...

Basically black culture is often appropriated by white people in terms of fashion, music and so on and that doesn't necessarily benefit those that they've 'borrowed' from and that can be a bit of a pisser...
