Because May's doing it explicitly to take out any opposition to her version of Trainwrexit
She's defined the 37.4% of the electorate who voted for Brexit as "The People" and the rest as saboteurs, but she's trying to exploit the political circumstances of the moment to make sure that she alone can decide what's best for us. Even her chosen People won't have a say anymore, unless a) Tory Remainer MPs grow some, or b) the Lib Dems do a Lazarus.
