As mentioned the other day, when Marcelo Rios became No1 he had a presidential reception
in front of tens of thousands of people, and this was in the first week of March when most tennis players have hardly played any tourneys.
If Murray makes it to the end of the season as No1 then I'd say that's quite some achievement, particularly at his age and considering he looked done after winning wimbledon for the first time
