You're right - the majority of people don't understand how it works...partly because the powers that be prefer it that way...some might say...

You're not dealing with a public educated in politics. You're dealing with the lowest common denominator at all times, and throwing your toys out the pram because I suggested the noise that will occur doesn't make you look great either.

Be annoyed, but discuss how to improve the above, not just get all shouty.
