Changing personnel
Alex Neil has had more cash to spend than any other Norwich City manager in history. This year we have spent over £40m on new signings alone. That he has decided to 'revamp' his squad by signing players that ultimately end up being just squad players (Mulumbu, Oliveira, Naismith, Canos, who couldn't even get a starting place last night, Maddison, who is ripping up trees elsewhere and most of all Pritchard who is the most expensive of all the signings yet has now been dropped after a fautless performance in his only league start).
Sure, circumstances have contributed to not bringing in even more fresh faces but if you're going to shell out the thick end of £30m for players to sit on the bench, rot in the reserves or ply their trade in Scotland then that's a pretty big circumstance in itself.
The team, whoever is sent out right now, simply doesn't look like it has its own identity. It is still predominantly made up of players that were here when he arrived and not dominated by those he has brought in.
He is now starting to come out with excuses for events. Complaining about lack of resources to cover for Johnny Howson's injury is laughable. It is the one area of the pitch where we have more personnel than anyone else, if he doesn't feel he has players he can trust to come in then that's entirely his fault.
We've already got plenty of experience and have brought youth to the club in Thompson (who has been with us for two years now, Maddison, Godfrey and others yet he seems as unwilling to play them as he does some of his own signings. And we've brought in creativity that itself isn't used. he has a squad with an amazing set of attributes.
So other than the absence of another striking option (though he's bought two forward players this year) and improving the centre of defence, I think the Club has the players capable of getting us a top two finish. But I just don't think we have the manager who is capable of knitting the squad that he built into a team.
For me, we have the players capable of getting us a top two finish.
