acting on the outcome of a referendum is in fact entirely against the democratic parliament system, and undermines their sovereignty. Which I find rather ironic given the arguments for leave.
Or we could keep it in the democratic process and use the mood of (slightly more than half of) the nation to trigger an investigation into whether leaving the EU would be a wise thing to do. And if so, put it through parliament. And even if it succeeded (much more chance of that if there were research and plans backing it up), it would then be have to pass through the entirely unelected House of Lords, adding more irony to the whole farce.
