He could have been a mediocre pen pusher who happened to be transferred to work for the MOD for a period of time or he could have been a fast tracked military intelligence guru integral to a number of foreign campaigns.

Provided he;s not an idiot I am sure that he will be fine as a board member. For me the main point flowing from this appointment though is the fact its succession planning and suggests that the club is going to be kept in the family for the foreseeable future.
