A bigger stadium makes sense for all those reasons

Regular attendances of (say) 32k = 6k more people in the ground every week. Catering will do better than merely wash its face and those people will be more likely to buy replica kits and other add-on services the club might offer. And I assume advertising to 32k people costs more than advertising to 26k people as well.
