Rubbish

Checking the council website, I can't throw away a lightbulb. As I don't have a car to take it to a recycling centre, what am I supposed to do with it? It's not just a lightbulb that I can't throw away but this is an example of a number of things that I seem only able to get rid of at my 'local recycling centre', batteries is another. What do people do? I've found allsorts of bits and pieces that seem to fall out of scope since I moved into this new property (analogue telephone, old power adapters, wd40, etc) and I can't put them in the bin, apparently.
