I've learnt over the years that virtually all that matters at

a football club is winning. When you're winning then it seems nothing else matters. Unfortunately the last thing we did (1-0 victory at Dereham apart!) was got relegated and therefore the simple loss of dear old Joe has sent people spinning off into the stratosphere of doom and despair! If we'd played ten games into the season and were top of the league most people would say "Joe who?". I find that depressing and amusing in equal measures!
