Neil Adams appointment
At the time was bizarre, but I think most people went with it, as it saw the end of one of the most tedious tenures in recent history.
His full time appointment was maybe slightly less bizarre, with the board having dug themselves a hole, and managerial alternatives being scarce. I think most of us went along with it and approached next season with confidence. Money in the bank. Don't need to sell. Dream team etc...
Since then, we have seen one of our top targets choose Bournemouth over us, seen what has elsewhere been described as the only brain in the dream team hot foot it to Everton after just 6 weeks, we lose our player of the season, and our only ever world cup goalscorer is rumoured to be sold for a cut price ?4.75m. And he's one of the few players actually contracted beyond the end of next season.
Whereas I don't begrudge Callum Wilson his first team place at Bounemouth (which because of the massive overquota of 6 strikers that we have somehow managed to accumulate, we couldn't have offered him here), Joe Royle a return to his dream club, or Leroy Fer another shot at the premiership (I'm not sure he's cut out for a scrap in the Champs), I am steadily building a feeling of dread for this season, and judging by a lot of other posters here, I think I'm not alone.
The club was ridiculed for it's lack of decision making last season, but they are still bloody doing it. Indeed the appointment of a wishy washy Adams is compounding it.
The deadwood from last season isn't moving. None of it. indeed, Bassong, who has to take a large slice of responsibility for our relegation appears to have been offered something of an olive branch.
Somebody needs to make some hard decisions, and make them bloody fast.
