only if you don't like carrying lots of cash
Rates are ok but they hit you with various fees - either a load fee if you are pay as you go or or a monthly fee otherwise.
Cheapest to buy currency online from Travelex or Post Office then collect from branch, although obviously you'll need to carry the cash with you. If you're concerned about carrying too much cash then a prepaid card is a good solution.
Your best bet though is to get the Halifax Clarity credit card - no fees and best exchange rate.
You do get charged interest so make sure you pay as quickly as you can but reduces all in costs from maybe ?5 per ?200 down to ?1-2 or so, so is the cheapest way.
You'll need a good credit rating though and as with any credit card you may not want to apply if you're about to take out a mortgage or loan.
