Personally, I don't think we'll have the money
Our costs for last season were 77m. Likely to be higher this season.
Out income for next season will be ?26m (parachute) plus maybe what, ?30m in Champ revenue? (it was ?23m the last time we were down there).
So I should imagine we'll have something like a ?20-30m shortfall to make up. Assume some headcount reduction, some salary reduction. We're still looking at needing to sell players or exhaust any cash reserves just to break even.
So any money to spend will depend on whether the Board likes being debt-free or whether it will speculate. We didn't speculate in January (with new manager or significant transfers). Will we do so next year?
My figures might be off (haven't had the time to pour over annual accounts of us and other similar Champ teams) and I might be misunderestimating the Board, but I can't see us spending wads of cash this year. I think we'll largely go with what we've got.
