I was living in Sheffield at the time.

I was in the city that day. I have had a number of dealings with S Yorks police. Once when I was leaving a party I realised there were several riot vans outside. Two CID went in, dragged someone out and started beating the s**t out if him. I went up to a uniform and said "can you see what's happening?" He raised his truncheon and replied, "you want some too so? Fuck off!" I looked for his number but he had removed them.

I guess what I'm saying is that I have no respect for the authorities in this matter and they clearly got it very, very wrong. Worse still they tried to cover their backs. It is a stain on our society.

But, yes there is a but, to say that no one else played any part whatsoever, no matter how trivial is just not true. To cover up and cover up with another cover up is immoral. I really hope those poor families get the truth they deserve. No one deserved to day that day, but they did. Now it is the truth that matters.
