bit of a red herring that

Hughton's substitutions were clearly wrong, but picking them as the reason we lost the match ignores the fact that we had the right lineup and tactics for the first 80 minutes of the game. If you asked most managers if they would settle for having the right tactics and being the better team for 80 minutes and the wrong tactics/worse team for just 10 they would bite your hand off.
The problem was that in the 80 minutes we were on top our players contrived to miss a hatful of good chances and in the mere 10 minutes West Ham were on top we gave away two sloppy and preventable goals.

Regardless of the crap late substitutions Hughton's tactics and team selection that day gave the team more than enough opportunity to win that game and THEY didn't take them.
