Is there any option to put something like "Market rate"?

They're in a better position to determine what that is than you are.

Also, I presume you've applied direct rather than an agency, if an agency, then make them handle this kind of thing.

I successfully applied for a job recently and like you, took the approach of make them like me, then negotiate the terms.
