League position should not be our main concern/barometer

Because with the league table being so tight current league position is largely meaningless. The key thing we need to have an eye on is the points situation/cushion from the bottom 3 because we need to get ourselves ahead of the curve before those last 5 games.

Fulham in those last 5 games play us(h), Spurs (a), Hull (h), Stoke (a) and Palace (h).

They could very easily get 9 or 10 points out of that. If we are still only 5 points clear of them going into that run they will overhaul us. Ok they are only one of the sides down there but the fact is that i suspect almost every relegation rival will get more points than us from their last 5 games. We need to have a cushion of 7-9 points over 4 or 5 teams or we are probably going to have to beat one of the big teams to stay up. That's not impossible but can anyone honestly see us doing it this season under this manager?
