Nahh - someone at the council there was on the radio about that.

They decided they *we're* going to have christmas lights as usual, but then some other council employee/committee decided that they couldn't really for fear of offending non-christians, and sent around a memo saying that it's going to be a "Winter Festival", and the lights aren't Xmas Lights they're Winter Lights.

But this was all contrary to what the council had decided, the person/committee was publicly called a plum, and they went on a meeja offensive saying "of course we're having christmas lights, don't be such a buerk."
