First post for 10 years...

I have not posted for over 10 years although I have "lurked" throughout that time - a vow of silence, I guess. People like Cheltenham canary may remember me...
I had to re- register with a 2 but I am Delia's G String from years ago.

I wanted to confess - say that I am sick of my own negativity and today's games confirmed that for me.

I am sick of willing anti-footballing sentiment, of spending my time willing brave, talented and worthy sides to lose, to suffer bad luck just so that we can crawl over the line in their place.

Today put this into sharp focus: Wigan were outstanding and I was so pleased they won the cup. Anything else would have been a travesty.

Lambert's Villa today were also magnificent and gutsy and just overwhelmed eventually by the money of Chelsea and the class of Lampard. How proud we would have been if that had been our side - going down in flames, having a right old go, threatening right to the death. Attack attack attack! He should have succeeded Fergie. Best of the British managers. ( didn't stop me from screaming the house down at the final whistle in my shame though).

Don't know if Hughton has prepared his speech yet but it needs to be Churchillian. The Sky money for those that stay in this league next season is going to make such a difference that it is not an exaggeration to say it will shape the future of this club for years to come. If we go down we could be there for years. But if we do stay up we must be much much braver!

Too late to change now and Hughton has banked everything on his policy of caution. It will be a close call and if he drags us over the line he will have to change his approach next season. He who dares wins = lambert = the only way to go.

West brom have a good record against us and even though they can't improve their position, and might like to see villa go down, will turn up and be professional. I think we've always had an affinity with west brom fans too - something to do with not liking Wolves. They'd want to see us stay up .

We need to be more, much more than that tomorrow. Professional is the minimum. But we need cool heads and guts. Somewhere in that team is the brave, enterprising, expressive side that Lambert built. The side that remember's how to score and thrives on that.

Hughton's biggest challenge tomorrow is to send them out the way Lambert would have...

Divided we fall for sure, and tomorrow is about the crowd kicking every ball,, roaring us on, sucking the ball into the f......... net (Barclay or river end I couldn't care less...)

For god's sake if we go down let's go down fighting kicking and screaming... It's in our hands - seize it and make ourselves worthy of staying up, rather than ashamed that braver souls went down.

Please, so I don't have to explain to my son why he's wearing that shirt... And my daughter....and (yes) the wife...

(After all, it can't be right a grown man explaining to a 5 year old why daddy is miserable all the time, and trying to explain the intricacies of relegation permutations, when all he wants to do is go to the park ....)

Losing it now. .... Dont worry wont post again for another 10 years.

Just f@@@@@@ win.
