before being gay is accepted on the terraces. I mean, look at the effort it has taken to stop racist chanting...and even now a lot of people keep their gobs shut for fear of ejection/banning rather than because they 'accept' black players.

If a player were to come out now, they would be hounded from the game by the continual abuse from crowds.
