Last night, I went to watch grown men and women grappling with one another.

Double U Double U Eee Wrestling from the You Ess of Aay.

First time I've been to watch wrestling live since my late teens/early twenties when I used to go to The Corn Exchange, Bury St Edmunds to watch the likes of Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Cyanide Sid Cooper (booooo!), Kendo Nagasaki, Dave Fit Finlay, Davey Boy Smith etc.

Last night was a late birthday present for Nasie Jr who's in to WWE, and whilst I went with fairly low expectations myself, I really enjoyed the evening. Some good technical wrestlers on show, but always lots and lots of pantomime throughout the whole thing. Most of all that impressed me, was the fact that they pulled out all the big gun names in Nottingham (there was also another show at Wembley last night). Nasie Jr's favourite wrestler CM Punk was there, as were John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Kane, Santino Marella, Ryback, Cody Rhodes, Zack Ryder, Eve, Layla, AJ, Vicki Guerrero, Antonio Cesaro, Brodus Clay, Damien Sandow, Primo & Epico, and Tensai.

It's a different experience than watching it on telly, and although the ticket prices and obligatory merchandise were extortionate, you can't put a value on an evening when your son turns round with a beaming great smile on his face, thanks me and tells me it's the best birthday present he's ever had!
