Bit quiet on here, let's have a debate... Should the police force be armed?
I think not. It would leave the scum like the chap in Manchester, tooling themselves up even more in case of encounters with policemen/women. This would not be good for society. Also who would be allowed the guns, which officers, what level in rank etc? It would be a minefield. You couldn?t have every officer having one, as there will always be one scrote like the one who?s just been discharged for gross misconduct. Imagine away football matches for Leeds/Millwall/West Ham with armed police officers present, it would all go wrong.
What about the death penalty or life without parole. I would be for this in cases where there is no doubt as to the culpability of a convict such as in this case where he has handed himself in now he knows the armed police are after him. The bloke in this case is utter cowardly scum, stating he wanted to go out in a ?blaze of glory? taking police officers with him, instead luring unarmed policewomen to a house and blasting them and not himself. He should be locked away for good, with no telly, pool table, table tennis etc that he will be offered in the nick IMHO.
