what it comes down to is whether the owners are prepared to throw their own money at it

if they are (Man City/Fulham/QPR/West Ham) they can continue to spend stupid amounts. If they aren't (like Portsmouth) it goes tits up.

There'll always be people who are (especially for London clubs, who'll always have no trouble finding an overseas billionaire buyer) but for clubs without such an owner it is a problem.

Let's not forget that while Delia's contributions are pretty small by modern day football standards (making us poor relations in Prem terms) without them we'd have gone the way of Portsmouth.
