A bit of balance.........A bit of reality......... a bit of context.

(WARNING LONG POST, tilterz/haterz probably want to stop here)

I understand emotion...... I love being a Norwich fan about as much as anyone on here......

Must admit I did get tilted by some of the reactions the other day.

I just find the lack of reality a bit strange.

Our goal is 11 wins plus a few draws thrown in.

Nothing more........

The sad reality is that with the way the PL is financially structured its going to be almost impossible for a club like Norwich to

challenge for a top 6 place.

Why are we suprised when a club like Aston Villa beats us?

Why are we suprised that Villa has amazingly talented players like Agbonlahor?

We blame and scold the defenders because they are not good enough.

The truth is we could spend three times as much money on wages and players transfers, and still be not good enough to compete with top

8-10 teams.

Thats just the reality.

Once you accept that reality.......maybe just maybe.........

You would get behind the players we have..... and understand they are doing really well in the hardest league in the world.

You have to credit people like David McNally who has a possible relegation built into the clubs plans.

Thats not being negative......thats being realistic.

Far bigger teams with far more resources have been relegated in recent years....(West Ham and Newcastle to name but 2)

The complaint is we have looked bad at the back in the past few games.

We lost 3-2 at Villa...... we didnt get spanked 6-0.

While its 100% true we have made some bad mistakes, look at the way we played before that.
At Man Utd we kept them completely quiet for most of the game while creating some great chances at the other end.

Its almost like we give no credit to the quality of the teams/players we are up against.

Some people were calling for wholsale changes at the back.

Again that is just bizarre.......we dont have anyone accept De Laet who was slated for the same mistakes people are complaining about

Barnett now.
Our results with the current back 4 have been strong, which makes the calling for changes a bit tilting to be honest.

This lack of reality reminded me of the time after we got relegated to LG1 and a lot of people were calling for Delias head.

Some even suggested they would rather the club went into admin if it meant getting rid of Delia!!!!

The one person who had financially supported the club they wanted gone with nobody waiting in the wings.....
Just utter madness.

Maybe Im old school but I actually like the fact we have players who on paper should get crushed by these teams.......and yet we have

managed to compete.

I dont understand why some feel we are so bad if we havnt been crushed by anyone.......

We are in there competing, nobody has tuned us over yet?

Look at the teams who have conceded 4 or more goals in a P LG game this season........

We are only one of 8 who havn't

Look at how many teams have been beaten by a 3 goal margin..........

We are only one of 7 who havn't.......

The reality is we have done much better than expected but some think we should be making wholesale changes....... (even if most of the

options are currently injured!?)

Isn't that the kind of thinking we have laughed at other teams fans for years over?

The reality is we are going to lose lots of games this season......... but didn't we already know that?

The context is we are competing in the toughest LG in the world where even the teams at the bottom of the division have quality

players in most positions.

The context is that winning 11 out of 38 games and finishing above 18th place would be a far better achievement than getting promoted.

My fear is if the moaning starts now while we are doing well........ WTF will it be like when we hit a rough patch and go on a run of

3-4 defeats (which will probably happen)

Maybe I am alone in feeling the expactations of some have gotten out of hand.
Last week I wrote a post asking "Is this as good as it gets?"

I think most people missed the point of the post.

It wasnt meant to be depressing but to celebrate the fact of where we are NOW........ and enjoy the moment NOW.

Just being in the PL and competing is amazing, long may it continue.........
