Utterly unimportant. You don't need to like the bloke at all to listen when he blows the whistle, its just pandering to the players.
Need to go back to stopping players harranging the ref, questioning every decision, and managers allowed to comment.
Take the pressure off them, take that spot light off them, let them jsut ref the game, they'll get more decisions right.
