Coopy R could have accepted the charges when first made
Any point deduction could have been recovered by now. They chose to contest the charges and if now found guilty they are more likely to face a more severe penalty - they gambled and if found not guilty they will have won. I reckon they are also gambling that the FA will be reluctant to dock the appointed champions and are now getting the jitters.
At the end of the day, if it is proven that they fielded an ineligible player and supplied false info to the FA, they are f**ked, pure and simple. Can the point deduction be carried over to next year? I doubt it as the charges have been brought by the football league not the Premier league.
