French to send military force to advise rebels in Libya

"Ok chaps, you get a stick and you put a bit of white material on the end and you wave it at the other lot over there, have you got that?"

"Sorry? Can you run that by us again?"

"Yes, I know it can be quite difficult to take in. It is an alternative form of battleground strategy. We French have been perfecting it over the last 600 years, it might take a whilte but you'll get the hang of it."

"So do we all have to use these sticks?"

"Oh no that would take too long, one should be enough, the rest of you simply stand up and hold your arms in the air, an end to the fighting is guaranteed."

"And what should we do with all our tanks?"

"Oh we've thought of that too chaps, we've got lots of brand spanking new ones for you, we'll replace your outdated machinery."

"What's so good about the new ones then?"

"Well chaps, take a look at the gearstick, it only has one gear, reverse, now are there any more questions?"
