Just back from the game

Great game and team performance, who played at a much higher tempo and intensity than our previous 3 league games. I really like our latest managerial appointment, it won't be fancy passing football but quick direct play, defend the ball 1st attack it at speed 2nd.

There was a point in the 2nd half during the passing sequence when fans cheered every pass, the look on Lamberts face was one of 'what the f**k are you doing get it up the pitch' and he seemed to mumble the very same to Culverhouse. I think the Norwich way of football has been our downfall since Delia and Michael took over and I'm not sad to see a change in our footballing intentions. Would never want dodgy longball football for the sake of results but Lamberts style is what we need at the moment, quick direct aggressive football, but definitely not hoofball. Very much a Martin O'Neill protege. Let's just hope he doesn't try and sign Dean Windass and get denied by the board

Alnwick - 7 steady, we should try and get him for the season and send Theo back to the wizard

Semi - 7 Decent game from the usual f**kitupper. Good defensive showing today. Expect Lamberts fullbacks to defend 1st attack 2nd.

Drury - 6 Still not convinced, although having Lappin in front definitely helped his game. He should get better with game time.

Askou - 7 Looked ok defensively but he sometimes looks like he's going to miss headers, just like he did for the goal. However he seems like a mean lean scoring machine so hopefully Culverhouse can improve him defensively and positionally.

Spillane - 8 I thought Spillane was excellent today. Maybe at fault for the 2nd but defended well. got some vital tackles in. Can tackle, can pass, technically sound, I hope he keeps improving.

Smith - 8 I really like Smith and was delighted when I heard the team news today. I dunno why but after charlton away I've got an XXL16 captain cave brown style obsession over the kid and really want to see him be our captain in years to come. Whilst looking a little fatigued towards the end, I thought he was f**king brilliant, a few head scratching balls but gave our midfield the enery it had been missing and was always looking for the ball. Smith's a right little midfield dynamo.

Hughes - 7 Not bad at all, good distribution, always came for the ball, much better than Gill. Much better.

McVeigh - 7 A 9 for effort though. Great leadership, voice and energy. gave it his all, showed he cares and looks hungry. Fuck off Whaley, this old timer is making you look like a right old f**king idiot

Lappin 9 He will be a Lambert favourite. Was up and down that left side like a man possessed, if Lappin can be this good consistently we won't need Wes to stay.

Holt - 9 MOM Fantastic game, Gunny did well here. Without him we're f**ked up front.

Cureton - 7 Not bad. Not great. A bit rusty as you'd imagine, but did some good link up play and looked lively.

Wesley - 5 He's off. Looked like a little boy who's just been grounded. Lambert was suitably unimpressed on the touchline, called him a f**king something after one of his s**t balls

Adeyemi - 7 I really think we have something in the Adeyemi/Smith partnership, get rid of Gill and maybe Jones and save on wages

Cody - 7 A great sub for us. I really like Cody, as most of us do, but he is very one dimensional, get the ball and run at the defense, But I think he may be imroving, for Holts 2nd goal he showed some vision and used his brain, was good to see.
