"we don't even know if our shareholders would do that"

This makes me so cross. WE KNOW THEY WOULDN'T. As soon as Cullum's interest became public they made an official announcement on the official website stating their terms for anyone - not just Cullum - to take over. That included the immediate paying off of all moneys owed to the majority shareholders, and the purchase of all their shares at ?30 each.
Taking into account all the other debts that have to be paid off on a change of control, the potential cost of all other shares, and the debts that have racked up over the past year the cost to a purchaser of taking over NCFC is pushing up towards ?40 million*.
The cost of taking control at Southampton was, I believe, around ?15 million. Why do you think they have new owners and we don't.

*Note for non-Fengibbons - the cost of taking over is substantially more than the value of the club.
