Back from exeter
Seeing as we make decisions based on 1 game these days, Butterworth CAN NOT get the job.
Our tactics were so undimensional it was untrue. We spent 90 minutes lumping the ball but with no real direction and no support from midfield. Our stand out player was Hoolahoo (raised a laugh), got stuck in, wanted the ball and was our only threat. Butterworth, when he finally made a f**king substitute, took him off.
That said, first half we should have had the game won. Holt missed a header in the first minutes, Cody missed an open goal and Doc had a header he should also have done well with.
Second half, Adeyemi nearly scored a belter, Askou then put us ahead after which the team stopped trying and we held on for a draw. The lack of motivation / work rate was unbelievable.
Some ratings:
Alnwick : looked good enough but kicks lacked direction which lost possesion.
Spillane : never a right back but worked hard
Drury : Glad to see him back but seems to have lost pace. Stands off his man far too much, see the goal for example.
Askou : Was impressed with him. No messing about, well taken goal.
Doc : Still doesn't look like he's found his level. Can't believe we signed him as a premier league player.
Whaley : Didn't look like he could be f**ked. Did absolutely nothing after the first 5 minutes.
Hoolahan : Best player on the pitch by a mile. Comfortable on the ball, can pass but with no support from the rest of the team he was fighting a losing battle.
Gill : Where were you??? No presence what so ever.
Adeyemi : Looked lively in the first half, great strike in the second. Young, has all the attributes but needs someone with experience in the middle with him.
Holt : Looked overweight to me. Didn't get on the end of anything but had no support from midfield.
McDonald : Looked a little jaded, got high hopes for him though.
Subs : 30 minutes to late and the wrong players. We were crying out for McVeigh and Hughes. We needed footballers on the pitch, not cloggers.
Need a proper manager ASAP. Team has the ingrediants but was completely lacking direction yesterday.
