And it was clear they could afford to pump big money in, plus appoint someone with fantastic contacts, charisma and sheer will to win. I just don't believe the Turners can afford to put much aside: they were appointed to help us become more profitable, not increase our debts even more. And appointing Glenn Roeder, a relatively cheap option, doesn't suggest they will either.

I don't think that's "crystal ball gazing": I just think that's the reality of where we are. A very weak squad, which with Earnshaw, Safri and Etuhu only finished 16th, but all have since departed; and our most influential player hasn't been anywhere near the same this season either. And a financial position which our CEO made a point of describing as "very challenging". Everything points towards a desperate struggle to survive - and it might be that we have to go down if the real changes needed at the club are to happen, and we can be reborn.
