FAO mike_the_sphinx and Yellalee

First, Mike: I'm absolutely ecstatic to admit that I couldn't have been more wrong about the rugby. I just couldn't get my head round the idea of getting to the final with THIS team: to be honest, I still can't. But they've done it: shoved my words where the sun don't shine. I do suspect the Boks will be too good for us - but this World Cup has totally defied prediction already, so really, who knows? And whatever happens, they deserve a heroes' welcome on their return: what they've achieved already is quite incredible.

More generally chaps, I see my tendency to come across as pompous and self-important has reared its head again. Honestly guys, it's the last thing I want to do - but what's happened for as long as I can remember is my ridiculous degree of earnestness gets confused for pomposity. Honestly, I'm not arrogant: I'm pretty insecure in truth. I do have strong opinions though, which I'll always express - but you're more than welcome to argue or tell me I'm a t**t in response!

Incidentally, I have taken heed of the criticism of my longwindedness anyway: responding with an approach much more in keeping with this hallowed messageboard. Trouble is, this will probably just infuriate many more people as a result... ah well.
